Compost Corner
Work on the new Ty Mawr Vegetable Garden "Compost Corner" started back in April 2011. Nine plots of earth were cultivated and with a bit of hard work and backache it was ready to receive its first seedling.
With the wonderful wet summer we have had and with a few breaks in the clouds allowing enough sunshine to break through our vegetable garden has flourished. All the thanks really go to Nigel and Sue who have been hard at work ensuring that we have had a successful first summer harvest. So far we have picked courgettes, beans, beetroots, lettuce, cabbage, spinach which have all landed in our dishes at the Ty Mawr.
We have also just started to make our own home-grown vegetable pickles which can be tried on our sharing platters. It won’t be long until our pumpkins are large enough for Halloween plus hopefully by then we would have decided what to do with all the wonderful artichokes that have grown in abundance in our garden.
Nigel and Sue have just planted our Christmas Day new potatoes, so fingers crossed and we will be serving some delicious new potatoes for your Christmas Day lunch.
Thinking caps are on for what to plant for our next harvest, if you have any ideas we are always open to suggestions. Email us at tymawr@sabrain.com
